Aiken: Born
in Alex, Alberta, 1926. Resides in Gravenhurst, Ontario. Studied at; the
Vancouver School of Art; Pennsylvania State University and Penland School
of Crafts, North Carolina, U.S.A., Instructor at Elliot Lake Centre for
Continuing Education and at several community colleges in the Province of
Ontario, and active member of the World Craft Council. Presently working
with the National Museum of Canada, on the use of lichen dyes. Has had an
extensive teaching assignment in Ontario and more recently in Australia,
on the use of natural materials and primitive textile craft techniques.
Study trip from Nepal, across India to London. Has exhibited regularly in
group exhibitions in Canada. Public commissions include representation in
