In the past five years fibre quarterly has given gradutaing students to the oppurtunity to present themselves in the pages of fibreQUARTERLY in our "Finishing School" section. First focusing on departments and taking suggestions or editorial work from departmental staff we have presented students from:

ACAD University in Calgary, Alberta

Capilano University in Vancouver, British Columbia

Concordia University in Montreal,

Kootenay School of the Arts at Selkirk College in Nelson BC

Montreal Centre for Contemporary Textiles and CENTRE DESIGN & IMPRESSION TEXTILE Montreal both teaching the textile programs for  Cégpe due Vieux Montréal / L'Institut des métiers d'art in Montreal

The Limollou CEGEP applied Arts Techniques program  taught through the Maison des Métiers d'art in Quebec City

Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning

There have been interesting changes at some of these facilities in that three: ACAD, Capilano and OCAD have gone from being Colleges which issued diplomas to Universities which issue degrees. (NASCD has become a University also but we have yet to present any graduates from that Institution.) Those students intending to continue future had to achieve a BA from a University before going into and MA program. At which point their craft beginnings where shifted to fine arts programs because there are no craft degrees available in Canada. This lack of a Craft Degree is something that has become a stumbling block to both studio and History degrees needed to support craft practice outside of Academia.  Louise Lemieu Berube

This years students come from the graduating classes of the Montreal Centre for Contemporary Textile and OCAD University Material Culture program. Two have come to work with textile construction techniques using unique materials, one with reactive surfaces. and the fourth presents works in installation/ interventions.  Oldouz Moslemian Jon Riosa, and Tiffany E-Ting Wu are from OCAD while Lena Guézennec, with a certificate in applied arts taken in Trépannier, Brittany, and a craft diploma in costume (Sartrouville, France) has just finished the diploma program at the MCCT in Montreal.
