Roll Top Bag by Malcolm Halley
Malcolm Halley is a Toronto designer-maker whose goal is to fill the gaps within the Canadian menswear market. Malcolm strives to produce timeless hand-made bags and accessories that integrate urban city life and his Canadian heritage – offering a new perspective on carrying your life around.
Malcolm completed his studies in 2013 at Sheridan College in the Textile - Craft & Design program. While studying at Sheridan Malcolm received multiple awards, as well as a summer Artist-In-Residence position in the Textile Studio at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre. This residency culminated in an opportunity to showcase a textile collection in a group exhibition entitled ‘Makes Sense On The Body’, curated by Melanie Egan.
His passion for quality craftsmanship has led him to launch Madrad, a company he sees as an opportunity to expand on the men’s textile market. Inspired by the Canadian outdoors and urban city life, he designs and manufactures hand-made bags and accessories incorporating simple function with rugged materials such as waxed canvas and hand crafted leather. His brand is dedicated to small production, ensuring quality and detail in every piece.
While Malcolm’s current focus is on designing functional products, his early artistic outlets of painting, graffiti and street art, offered a great foundation of knowledge and inspiration for his work.
